About Cascade Backup Power
An independent guide to backup power for homes in Washington, Oregon, and the rest of the Pacific Northwest.
Our region has its own outage pattern: winter windstorms that drop trees on lines, ice storms, and in summer, wildfire safety shutoffs. Short, dark winter days also mean solar recharging is unreliable when you need it most. Most backup power advice is written for sunnier places. We write for here.
How we research
- Specs and prices come from manufacturer or retailer pages, linked with the date we checked them. Prices change often, so always confirm before you buy.
- Safety guidance comes from the CDC, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Ready.gov, the FDA, and regional utilities.
- We do not tell you what your local electrical code requires. Rules vary by place and utility. For anything connected to home wiring, hire a licensed electrician and follow the manufacturer manual.
- When we could not verify something, we say so.
